Description/Eligibility/Service Details

Description Non-profit, community-based and faith-based charitable organization that uses knowledge, skills, community relationships, voluneteers and other resources to create and promote safe and affordable home ownership options with the aim of alleviating the cycle of poverty within the community 
 
 
Building projects: 
Builds new homes for low income families * homes are built by volunteers with donated materials and services * offers a twenty year interest free mortgage to qualifying families 
 
ReStore: 
Accepts donations of overstocked, used, discontinued items and salvageable building materials donated from manufacturers, other stores, local contractors and the public * items that are donated include new and gently used furniture, building materials, appliances, cabinetry, sinks, countertops, household and décor items, lighting * donated items are sold to the public at a reduced cost, typically 30-70% percent less than the original retail value * all proceeds used in construction of future Habitat homes  
 
Revive Centre:  
Recycle and transform donated products and materials that would otherwise go to landfill * items that are in need of renewing, up-cycling or refinishing are revived and transformed into something that can be sold by Habitat * raise funds to support Habitat's mission to build safe, decent and affordable homes for low-income families in need 
 
Volunteer opportunities: 
Recruitment, coordination and administrative support * build co-ordination * youth outreach * procurement * reception * ReStore plumbers, electricians, cashiers, warehouse support 
 
Donation items are picked up free of charge if they are in the garage or on the driveway * items can also be picked up from the interior of the home or apartment for a small fee * large items purchased from ReStore can be delivered to the client's home for a small service fee
